The industrial ecosystem of the Region of Valencia is one of the most energy-intensive in Spain. According to the most recent data available on the Statistical Portal of the Generalitat Valenciana its energy consumption in 2023 accounted for 14.2% of the national total. This is due to the presence in the region of sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, ceramics and steel.
When it comes to green hydrogen in Spain, Aragon is one of the key locations. In Enagás’s 2023 Call for Interest to identify potential production and consumption centres for this energy vector in Spain, Aragon had the highest number of hydrogen projects at various stages of planning and development.
