Emprende, projects promoting energy transition were presented<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fifth edition of the <strong>Ingenia Energy Challenge<\/strong>, launched at the end of September 2023 as part of the Enag\u00e1s Innovation Day event, received a total of 62 initiatives, making Enag\u00e1s once again a <strong>benchmark in<\/strong> open <strong>corporate entrepreneurship<\/strong> to <strong>accelerate the energy transition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The projects are focused on promoting renewable gases (with a priority in green hydrogen) and new transport fuels; sustainability and energy efficiency; and industry 4.0 and digitalisation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-image-carousel  su-image-carousel-has-spacing su-image-carousel-has-outline su-image-carousel-adaptive Assessment of Hydrogen Pipelines<\/h2>\n<p>The external initiative award was for the <strong>CSIC-Structural Assessment of Hydrogen Pipelines<\/strong> project, promoted by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and focuses on the structural assessment of hydrogen pipelines, through a technology patented by the CSIC for the inspection of the integrity of hydrogen pipelines and reused pipelines to enable their certification for hydrogen transmission.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>AZIM<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The internal initiative award was for<strong> AZIM<\/strong> project, that is based on the development of a comprehensive online training solution focused on the inspection and maintenance of renewable gas facilities. Its creator, Mayte Bolumar, also won for this project the Entrepreneurial Woman award for this project, a new creation in this fifth edition of Ingenia, in which 40% of the participants are women.<\/p>\n<h3>The need to innovate<\/h3>\n<p>For Arturo Gonzalo, CEO of Enag\u00e1s, \u201cinnovation is not only important\u201d, but also \u201curgent\u201d. Innovate not only to respond to a growth objective, \u201cbut also to social progress\u201d. \u201cWith the Ingenia Energy Challenge we are looking for innovation to accelerate the energy transition with a purpose that transcends business and economic goals,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInnovation is more open and collaborative than ever. Both internal and external talent is needed to achieve our goals of decarbonisation and security of supply, creating an ecosystem where technology centres, corporations, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs work together,\u201d stresses Gonzalo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A_l33BMwFVU?si=1ciAIlFcrvlUxUlO\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the winning projects, four other projects were recognised by the jury as finalists for providing disruptive solutions that contribute to decarbonisation. They are <strong>EnaMOF, Silex, Netzero IIOT <\/strong>and <strong>H2Mell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>EnaMOF<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><strong>EnaMOF<\/strong> is a proposal from the Leitat Technology Centre, sponsored by the government of Catalonia, together with the Industrial Technology Centre of Castilla-La Mancha (ITECAM), the applied research technology centre of the University of Valladolid (CARTIF) and the Technological Institute for Packaging, Transport and Logistics of Valencia (ITENE), for the development of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for the prevention and monitoring of methane and hydrogen emissions in gas distribution and transmission systems.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div> <div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Silex<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>The <strong>Silex<\/strong> project, an initiative by the Canary Islands start-up APSU, is developing a reactor that uses a technology to capture CO2 in combustion engines, regenerating the elements that hold it (amines and zeolites) to prevent saturation and allow for greater efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div> <div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Netzero IIOT<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><strong>Netzero IIOT<\/strong> is an initiative by the Catalan start-up Aeinnova that uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to develop maintenance-free and lithium battery-free autonomous industrial sensors that operate with long-range wireless and are powered by residual heat or wind.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div> <div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>H2Mell<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>Finally,<strong> H2Mell<\/strong> is a project for the selection of odorant and bio-odorants for hydrogen, with the aim of defining an international standard with a proposal that bears the Enag\u00e1s brand and seal.<\/p>\n<p>Like Archydra and AZIM, H2Mell is part of the intrapreneurship initiatives promoted by Enag\u00e1s professionals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h2>Support in its next phases of development<\/h2>\n<p>Enag\u00e1s will provide the winning projects with the tools to turn their proposal into reality and may offer specific support through its subsidiary Enag\u00e1s Emprende to any of them to scale up their proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Since its creation in 2015, Enag\u00e1s Emprende has been promoting projects that speed up the energy transition.
